I first heard about Trim Healthy Mama while looking up ways to control my adult acne. I wanted to know more so I checked out the old book, that they self-published, from the library. It was massive and full of information, but I felt kind of lost. I understood it for the most part, but I wanted the guidelines in an easier to read format. The sisters took feedback from other ladies that were saying the same thing. They also separated the plan and cookbook so people weren’t lugging around a 600 page book.
Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison have tried every diet out there from Standard American Diet to Raw Veganisim. That is when they said they were done trying to diet and wanted to find a way to eat for a lifetime. Then they came up with this Biblical based way of eating. No need to eliminate food groups, unless there is a true allergy. You can still eat your pizza and brownies while losing weight!
After reading this plan book and the old book I agree that this book is much easier to read and understand. While the old book is more in-depth, this one highlights all the important things. Such as how to regulate your blood sugar, tips for ladies who lose weight slowly, a section for nursing and pregnant mama’s, and even a small section for Trim Healthy Men! I highly suggest the Plan Book and the companion Cookbook.
