Have you heard of Trim Healthy Mama? If not then you should look into the plan book and cookbook by Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison.
I was stuck at around 138lbs when I came home from my cruise in July. I maintained that weight till September. The end of September is when I found out about THM. After checking out the old plan book from the library I started incorporating the THM principles. Since starting October 1, I have gone from 138lbs to 129lbs. That is in a month!
I look forward to melting body fat, gaining muscle, and becoming a happier person. I will be posting a book review on the Trim Healthy Mama plan book soon.
Also, there is a Facebook group for other Trim Healthy Mama’s and look at how supportive they are! 1,287 likes and counting! I can’t wait to see the difference in a year.
Safe House, by Joshua Straub, PhD, is not your typical parenting book. It is about making your home a place where all family members feel safe. Dr. Straub’s book also includes a Safe House Parenting Assessment.
I enjoyed reading Safe House. I don’t typically read parenting books, but with this being a Bibically based parenting book I had to give it a try. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! I enjoyed this book so much that I simply couldn’t put it down. I love that at the end of each chapter there are a list of questions that really make you look inside yourself.
Safe House is a truly inspiring book. This book gives you the tools to implement an emotionally safe home and what it truly means to do so. All while using the Bible as a guide. What could possibly be better? So put down all those other parenting books, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy Safe House How Emotional Safety is the Key to Raising Kids who Live, Love, and Lead Well.

I was blessed with a Trim Healthy Mama cookbook! It came in the mail today and I am ecstatic! I made some cowboy grub for supper and recently ate some skinny chocolate. I wish I had some of the specialty products, but I have enough for now. I can’t believe how blessed I am right now.
I was recently prescribed some medication to help with my adult acne and it would be great to get it cleared once and for all. I will post before and afters in the next three months. I am hoping Trim Healthy Mama will help.
I just wanted to touch base. I have good hopes for this blog.
I have wanted to start a blog for some time and I finally felt led to create one. I never knew what to talk about or what other people would be interested in. Finally, God answered my prayers. He led me to just talk about my health and my journey in creating a good home life. I want my children to not have to go through the health struggles I have gone through as a kid. Doctors still don’t know what causes my chronic stomach pain.
I have gone through diet after diet trying to heal my body and lose body fat. I have been vegetarian, vegan, paleo, high carb low fat vegan, raw vegan, and just the regular sad dieter. I have also tried the blood type diet, flexible dieting, and the eat clean diet. Those are just to name a few. Think about it and I have more than likely tried it. The sad thing is, is that I never had to worry about my weight until after I had my first daughter.
When I graduated high school I weighed 103lbs! I got married to my high school sweetheart and my weight crept up to 115lbs. Still skinny, but I was starting to trail into the skinny fat category. Because I was always so skinny I never worked out. Fast forward to 2007 and I was now at 126lbs. I was fine with my weight, although I would have loved to have a flatter belly. I became pregnant and ended my first pregnancy at 177lbs. Yikes! I ended up losing all the baby weight by pretty much starving myself. But my belly was completely different and all my body fat was distributed to different places. By 2013 I was sitting at 155lbs. Ya, marriage had taken its toll! By October I went to the hospital at 204lbs and left with a beautiful baby girl.
This is where I really started becoming health conscious and wanting to make better choices. Admittedly, it was about my weight at first. Then, it became a health journey for myself and my family. Through all my research I happened upon some great ladies who came up with Trim Healthy Mama. While I haven’t been fortunate enough to be able to get the new books, I have been reading the old book that I checked out from my local library. I love the fact that there is a biblical approach to this way of eating. So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the ramblings of an ADHD mom just trying to figure things out.
